TE PAKEKETANGA

Te Pakeketanga supports kaumatua in achieving improved connection and wellbeing through fortnightly gatherings.


We provide a safe and nurturing programme that encompasses the 6 Pou to promote wellbeing for kaumatua and their communities.

This programme enables kaumatua and kuia to connect with other Māori, fostering positive wellbeing outcomes and pathways.

Te Pūtake

Te Pūtake is a pathways and transitions focused group for taiohi aged 16-21yrs who are interested in getting into study, training or employment. 

  

Te Pūtake encourages and supports taiohi to expand their life skills and explore various opportunities available to them in Otautahi, Christchurch.  

  

Our purpose is to support their transition to adulthood, provide social connection and spark motivation. 

  

Learning opportunities include: 

  • Tours of Ara, Vision College, YMCA and NZMA 

  • Learning how to create a CV and Cover Letter 

  • How to search and apply for jobs 

  • How to get your drivers license 

  • Volunteer experience in the community 

  

Group Criteria: 

  • 16-21 years old 

  • Running during school terms 1-4 

  • Duration 8-10 weeks 

  • Group size: 12 max 

Building Awesome Whanau

  • Parents, Grandparents and caregivers

  • During school terms 

  • 8 weeks

Building Awesome Whānau is a facilitated parenting course for those raising tamariki or taiohi.

It is filled with practical ideas and encouraging stories to equip and empower you to realise your dream for your whānau. The course integrates principles and values from Mātauranga Māori, including tikanga and te reo Māori, and is delivered through a wellbeing lens.

Key concepts include the mana and tapu of tamariki, with a strong emphasis on aroha, manaakitanga, and whanaungatanga. The course offers a safe and non-judgemental environment for reflection, exploring opportunities for change, and gaining hope for the future.
