Matanga Māori 

I was born and raised in Ihumātao as the pōtiki of six tamariki of   

Les and Mary Huia. I am the Father of four tamariki and a Koro to one moko. 

I have worked in various Health Services for the past 20 years. My roles have included Youth Work, Mental Health Support Work, Residential Care and Support. I have a Bachelor of Māori Performing Arts and a New Zealand Certificate in Whānau Ora, Level 4. 

My passions are everything to do with Te Ao Māori and Mātauranga Māori. I have been a National Kapa Haka representative and involved in Taiaha, Kapa Haka judging and Kapa haka tutoring.  

I enjoy representing our organisation as a Mātanga Māori at hui around the local community. I love to connect with people and have a particular fondness for our Kaumātua.
